On 8th June, in our school was an interesting activity called „The dream of a summer night”, organized by literary club SOLARIS. The audience, children, parents and teachers, were very excited to show: „Stars parade”, „Stars copy” and „Dance contest”. The pupils sang, imitated different stars, danced, but most of all have fun together.

By the end, the jury chose the winners and „Miss star”. They have received awards and flowers. Balloons, confetti, music and joy in the eyes of children have made this dream of summer night will be unforgettable.

Children’s Day.

Today in our city we were celebriting Children’s Day .

We went to Center of Culture at about 8 a.m.We were admiring there the
performances of all schools from our city. Our school choir was fantastic. After that we went to the Sport’s Hall and we were watching tournaments and football
matches. It was very exciting. Of course it wasn’t the end of fun. We could also go
to the stadium and take advantage of various offers of recreation, for
example TRAMPOLINE. It was a great day.

Our school participated in a national programme “Katyń – to preserve for posterity“. It’s a programme, which is aimed at the memory of soldiers, who were killed in Katyń by ZSRR.
Last Wednesday, 20th May 2009- in our school we entertained polish officers’ families. Our students were really interested in a performance and made presentations about Katyń and polish soldiers, who died there. During the performance our school choir sang threesongs: “Domine Deus”, “Days, which we don’t know” and Marlena with her rock-band sang „White Cross”. Everybody was crying while this song was sung. Officers’ daughters said this ceremony had been touching. We planted four trees-oaks, which should remind the history of Polish soldiers.

 ,,Happiness “

Happiness is one, it is real and only.
Fortunately it is necessary to be divided, like with love.
Everyone should also feel this happiness.
Everyone in a way, world should be happy.
This way it would happen not perhaps us to be missing, of people, because it is we are a happiness of world.
So let us be pleased, as long as we can.
We live and we are here.
Without us world would be sad.

,,Magic of sound “

Music, the exceptional beauty has.
Miraculous power which is prompting me….
Creating the music is taking time.
She requires it much in order to show the beauty.
Beauty of the music…
Sounds are being uttered by instruments,
of vocalists, a radio equipment is pushing.
That’s all is showing the beauty of the music.
Listening to this music on the radio,
melody mill into world and is embracing us magics of sound.

Our national holidays in May.

The First of May is a Labour Day and in Poland this day is free from work. In the past everybody had to go march along the town streets with polish flags. Now it’s not obligatory, but this day is still off.The Second of May is a Holiday of Polish Flag and this day is free too, but not for all. In our school we have this day free, but for example shops can be opened. This day is A Day of All Poles, Who Live Abroad.

The Third of May is a National Constitution Day. It was the first constitution in modern Europe and the second in the world (the first one in the world was the constitution of the USA). This constitution was passed on the third day of May in 1791. This day is free too, so we have a long weekend at this time every year.

Karolina’s dog, Freak

dsad

When I was younger I wanted to have a dog very much.. It was impossible because my mother didn’t agree for a dog. Once she said “Yes, we could have a dog”. I was so happy. Two months
later I’ve found a little schnauzer for sell. I remember the day when I bought Freak. It was rainy but I didn’t mind it. When I saw Freak for the first time I knew I wanted only him. Freak was very ill. He was too small and he had a problem with pancreas. I was unhappy and I worried that he would die but after some time he got healthier. I have to say that he is very intelligent. When he was 3 months he could sit and give me a “hand”. Now he loves me and I love him too. When I go to school he cries but when I come back he is so happy. One month ago he had his first birthday.
I’m proud of him :]

This week there were exams in Polish schools. We wish for our friends good luck in their promotion !
All polish pupils have to take two exams in April, which check pupils’ knowledge and skills from many subjects. First day includes skills from such subjects as: polish language, history, knowledge of society, art and music. Second day includes skills from such subjects as: maths, biology, geography, chemistry, physics and astronomy.

This exam can not be repeated. If a pupil writes poorly, but he has got good marks on his school report – he’ll get promotion to next education stage. This exam is obligatory – every pupil have to pass it. Further education isn’t possible without taking this exam. Pupils get points for every task. The more points they get, the better chance they have to get to a new school.

,,THE BIG READ”

books_carte_435341

Worldwide, some 776 million adults lack literacy skills, 75 million children are out of school and millions more leave school early without acquiring basic literacy and numeracy skills. Literacy is a basic right and a fundamental condition for being part of today’s knowledge societies. Literacy is a key to reduce poverty, increase economic opportunities, improve child and maternal health, prevent HIV and AIDS and encourage political participation.

Under the slogan ‘Open Books, Open Doors’, Global Action Week, led by the Global Campaign for Education, will send a strong signal to policy-makers and the international community on the importance of one of the most neglected Education for All goals. More political commitment, more effective literacy programs and more funding are required to make literacy a basic right for all.

The highlight of the campaign is the “Big Book”, a collection of short stories about how education changes lives. “Big Read” events will be organized, during which individuals will read from this book and sign a statement at the back of it calling for more commitment and investments to ensure that everyone is able to read and write.

Wielkanoc w Polsce/Easter in Poland

Easter is the oldest Christian holyday, witch commemorates rising from the death of Jesus Christ. Before Easter we have Ash Wednesday in Poland, which is the first day of the Lent. The Lent lasts for 40 days. Then we have Palm Sunday and The Great Week with the three most important days: Great Thursday, Great Friday and Great Saturday. Great Thursday is a day of Last Jesus Christ’s Supper and twelve Apostles. Great Friday is a day of Jesus Christ’s death on the cross. On this day we have no Holy Mass, but only the Way of the Cross. It’s the day of the biggest grief after Christ’s death. On Great Saturday we adore the Blessed Sacrament, which is on the Master’s Grave and we consecrate food for the festive table. On this day we have no Holy Mass too. After that we have Resurrection’s Sunday. It is the first day of Easter, when we celebrate the return to life of our Savior.
The last day of Easter is Easter Monday, when boys and girls pour water over themselves. When a girl is wet this day, it means that she has success in contacts with boys.

It is a school e-newspaper with interviews (and photos) about young people and their life. Pupils will write about everything, but in a peculiar way – by interviewing school friends from different foreign countries. They will ask about school life, system of grading at school, hobbies, music, problems of young people, favourite books, favourite sports, festive traditions, how they spend their free time and other things they want to find out.
